Of course, releasing these guys in the first place, is the real issue/problem; and, an unwillingness to put more al-Qaeda, or the Islamic State operatives/members in Guantanamo has been detrimental to the intelligence collection process — especially in ferreting out new threat info and critical group structure, methods, decision-making, etc.  Instead, we’re droning them.  But, dead men tell no tales.  RCP

Qatar has agreed to temporarily extend the existing travel ban for the five senior Taliban leaders who are living in Qatar, a senior U.S. official confirms to CNN’s Global Affairs Correspondent Elise Labott.

The ban will stay in place while discussions between the U.S., Qatar and Afghanistan continue for a long term solution. The five will still not be able to travel and will be subject to monitoring, the official said.
