Britain Is ‘Home To 35,000 Islamist Fanatics,’ More Than Any Other Country In Europe, — ‘ISIS Fanatics Will Attempt Cyber Attack On Nuclear Power Stations Or Air Traffic Control Systems Within Next Five Years,’ Says EU Anti-Terror Chief
London’s The Telegraph reports in their August 31, 2017 edition that the U.K. is infested with jihadists, or jihadists sympathizers and wanna-be’s, something that unfortunately comes as no surprise. The European Union Anti-Terror Chief, Gilles de Kerchove, in an interview with Spain’s largest newspaper, El Mundo, said “The United Kingdom has identified 20K to 35K [Islamic] radicals [guess he could say Islamic, so I did], of which 3K are worrying for MI5.
Mr. de Kerchove also warned that the “Islamic State will attempt a cyber attack on a nuclear power stations or air traffic control systems within the next five years — potentially by [recruiting and] paying Russian hackers to break into vital computer systems.”
Outside of the U.K., Mr. de Kerchove said there were some 17,000 ISIS sympathizers/Islamic militants in France; and, much less in Spain, but still in the neighborhood of 5,000 militants. With respect to Belgium, Mr. de Kerchove said that 500 Belgians who had fought for ISIS in Iraq and Syria were now back home in Belgium; and, authorities believe that there are approximately 2,000 Islamic militants living within the country’s borders.
For Europe as a whole, Mr. de Kerchove estimated that Islamic militants number in the “tens of thousands, and more than 50,0000,” jihadists.
No one should be shocked by these figures. Saddened yes. Shocked…no. Europe after all, is closer to the center of gravity where the fight has been taking place, it is easier for the Islamic militants to get into Europe, the Islamic population in many of the countries in Europe aren’t well assimilated, and the continent suffers from the same politically correct philosophy that plagues liberals here in the United States. Not once, in the transcripts I read, did Mr. de Kerchove say Islamic militants. Instead, the term he used was “radicals.” When you cannot, or refuse to even identify it is who you are at war with — you are already fighting from a position of weakness.
Mr. de Kerchove’s prediction that “radicals” would attempt to attack nuclear power facilities, and/or air traffic control centers within five years, also isn’t a new thought, and, is mostly vatuous, without greater granularity.
I still believe the best way to deter young Westerners from joining ISIS, or ascribing to their poisonous philosophy, is to put their leaders like al Baghdadi and others on trial for crimes against humanity. We have to kill the philosophy….in order to eliminate this threat, or greatly reduce it. Until we do, this evil philosophy……sadly……will still find and fill, vulnerable minds.
